Date(s): 24.03.16 - 03.07.16. Venue: Palazzo delle Esposizioni, Via Nazionale, 194, 00184 Rome, Italy.

The Palazzo delle Esposizioni is the Italian capital's largest interdisciplinary exhibition area in the centre of Rome and from March to the beginning of July it is hosting a highly interesting and novel exhibition about one of Italy's most influential artists. The exhibition is named the 'Caravaggio Experience' and strangely enough you will not find one canvas from the great Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio at the exhibition. Caravaggio is reputed to be the master of Baroque style painting; the use of strong contrasts between light and dark (chiaroscuro), he led a turbulent life and died at the young age of 38. His works include The Musicians, Flagellation of Christ, Raising of Lazarus and so forth. As already mentioned, Caravaggio Experience does not show any of his original works but it does feature an innovative video installation which has been combined with an original musical score and even a selection of fragrances, all with the aim to engage the audience on a sensorial and immersive journey into the fascinating world of the 17th century painter.
